Mobile strategy games seem to be the most addictive gaming craze nowadays. Clash of Clans, a free-to-play take on the genre, lets players raid each other’s villages with barbarians, wizards and pissed off dragons. We’re back to aid you in your run to the top of game’s leaderboards. Here’s the top 10 tips and tricks you need to know for Clash of Clans.
1. Know Which Resources to Raid During Multiplayer Battles
During the multiplayer skirmishes you’ll no doubt be a part of, there’s a certain percentage of resources that are obtainable from certain item drills/storage locations:
1. 100-percent of whatever’s stored in the Town Hall
2. 75-percent of the Dark Elixirs stored in Dark Elixir Drills
3. 50-percent of whatever’s stored in the gold/elixir collectors
4. 20-percent of whatever’s stored in the gold/elixir storage (up to 198,000)
5. 5-percent of the Dark Elixirs stored in the Dark Elixir Storage (up to 2,000)
The overall available loot is reduced though if your opponent’s Town Hall level is lower than your’s. But if your opponent’s Town Hall level is higher than your level, the loot amount you get for a victory will garner a nice increase.
2. Defend Your Base With a Bunch of Walls
Once you start the game, you’ll have access to wooden walls. These walls come in at a pretty low level (level one), which means they’re not worth much when high-level barbarians come barging into your base.
Try to upgrade these wooden walls to level three as fast as possible (attain for level four or five if you can, too). These walls will end up being your strongest defense, so make sure you purchase all the available walls within your level. Place these walls all around your base so that no opening pathways are available for entry.
Let those attackers break down your walls and struggle; don’t let them ease on in without much trouble because you mistakenly left a lane open.
3. The Low Level Trophy Farming Solution
One of the easiest and laziest ways of farming in clash of clans is by lowering your trophies to under 200 and farming with goblins. The match-making system in clash of clans uses your amount of trophies to find an enemy. When a player is still low level they won’t have a lot of trophies. This way we can use this match-making system to our benefit by lowering our trophies and getting easy opponents. Of course, the loot will be less, so that’s why we’re going to use less troops as well.
Goblins are one of the cheapest troops, and we only need about 20-40 goblins to raid at least 30k gold and elixir from a very badly protected village. As you can see on the picture here, there’s 87k gold and 58k elixir available, while there’s only a level 1 cannon there to protect it! I only had to use 25 goblins to steal all of his gold and elixir. To lower your trophies it’s always very basic. Train goblins only and just start looking for battles, but we’re going to be using a little bug. I wouldn’t call it abusing because we’re just giving away our trophies, and all this little glitch is going to do is speed up the process.
So when you battle, you usually skip a lot of fights until you find the right one. But when you’re dropping trophies you’re going to be using 1 goblin on every village you see, but this would still take a very long time if you had to load your own village after every battle, so here’s a step-by-step explanation of how the ‘glitch’ works:
1. Find a match
2. Hold your finger on the ‘next’ button
3. Drop 1 goblin
4. Quickly after deploying release the ‘next’ button
4. Keep Your Trophies Even After Ending A Battle Prematurely
If you’re ready to wave the white flag before the start of a tough raid, just go on ahead and end the battle. You’ll keep your trophies as long as you don’t deploy any troops or cast any spells. Make sure the “Surrender” option isn’t visible, either!
5. Get Some Free Elixirs (And Save Them While You’re Offline)
This cheat only works when you have less than 30 seconds from finishing a troop upgrade an a full army. About before thirty seconds, cue up the troop you are upgrading. Don’t forget before you do this you have to make sure you have a full army. After the upgrade finishes, untrain the troops. Now, you will get free Elixir!
How to save your elixir when your offline
To be able to save your elixir where people won’t get that much elixir. Just make sure your camps are full and then fill your barracks up with bombers then you can get offline with like only 100,000 elixir instead of 300,000 elixir. Get back on, then unload your barracks first thing and then you will get all of your elixir back.
6. At the First Chance of Revenge, Take It!
When you’re attacked by a rival raid party while you’re defenses are down, you’ll want to get back into action ASAP. Watching your base fall hurts, but knowing that it got taken apart while you were away hurts even more.
Take advantage of the “Revenge” option so you can deal damage to those who did it to you. The “Revenge” option works pretty well, thanks to the fact that you can now look at your opponent’s base before you attack it.
Make sure you remember where all their goodies are stored and the exact location of their Town Hall. You’ll be more than prepared when your perform your revenge raid!
7. The Lightning Spell Has A Ton of Good Uses
Lightning Spells are good at destroying certain defenses. For example, if you are attacking with a lot of tier 1 units, 2 Lightning Spells work well in destroying a Mortar. 3 Lightning Spells can also take out an Air Defense, assuming the Lightning Spell’s level is high enough. Multiple Level 4+ Lightning Spell can easily take out even the strongest Mortar and Wizard Tower. If a defense has majority of their mortars and Wizard Towers adjacent to each other, use your Lightning spell to take them out. You then have least of worries about area splash damage.
8. If Your Buildings Get Destroyed, Take Advantage of the Shield You Receive
When 40-percent to 45-percent of your buildings are destroyed, you’ll be given a 12-hour shield. Take the time to toughen up your defenses for all the hours you’ve just been awarded.
9. Know Which Troops Fit Where Depending on Your Castle’s Level
1. Healers will fit into a level 2 or higher Clan Castle.
2. Dragons will fit into a level 3 or higher Clan Castle.
3. P.E.K.K.As will fit into a level 4 or higher Clan Castle.
4. A Golem will fit into a level 5 Clan Castle.
10. Keep Your Town Hall Protected By Traps and Teslas
Supercell gives you many strategic options for defense, but perhaps the most powerful is the element of surprise. Traps and the defensive Hidden Tesla do not appear to opponents when they look at your park, and while there are tricks to figure out where they are, a match made opponent will only have seconds to try and figure it out. Psychologically, many will find it hard to keep focus on the hidden as they struggle to analyze and consume all of the visible defenses and plan their attack. Use this to your advantage. Funnel units through a weakness in a wall, then blast them with bombs. Leave your Town Hall out in the cold, but surround it with Teslas to punish unprepared attackers.
